A 25 year old man is facing charges following an incident that resulted in Police deploying a Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW) this weekend.

At approximately 9:05p.m., September 13, 2019, Police received a call to check on the welfare of a male in the 200blk of Herold Terr. The responding officers quickly realized the male was displaying symptoms of psychosis. Officers attempted to take this male into custody to seek medical attention in which the male became assaultive and injured both officers. Officers then deployed a CEW, however it had no affect on the man. It took 3 additional officers to arrive at scene before the male was taken into custody.

Medavie Health Services attended and transported the male to hospital.

One of the officers injured at scene was also treated by Medavie Health Services. Both officers sustained minor injuries as a result.

The male will be facing 2 charges of assault police officer once he is medically cleared from the hospital.

The incident will be reviewed in accordance with policy.
