CTSS Traffic Stop Results In Arrest Of Man On Canada-wide Warrant

A 39-year-old man is facing over 20 Criminal Code charges after Saskatoon Police CTSS members conducted a traffic stop yesterday evening.

Shortly before 7:00 p.m., September 15, 2019, a SPS member of the Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan was travelling on Highway 7 near McGee, SK when the patrol vehicle's Automatic License Plate Reader alerted him that the plate of a white Mazda 3 was stolen. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was also found to have numerous outstanding warrants, including a Canada-wide warrant. Officers also located a semi-automatic non-restricted rifle and ammunition concealed in the trunk of the vehicle.

Further investigation found that the vehicle had been stolen from North Vancouver, BC, and the license plate on the vehicle was stolen from Prince Albert, SK.

The 39-year-old man is charged with;

  • Possession of a Dangerous Weapon
  • Carry Concealed Weapon
  • Unauthourized Possession of Firearm
  • Unauthourized Possession in a Motor Vehicle
  • Possession of Firearm Obtained of Commission of Offence
  • Prohibited Possession of Firearm
  • Prohibited Possession of Ammunition
  • Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000
  • Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000 (x3)
  • Possession of Stolen Identity Documents (x2)
  • Breach of Undertaking (x5)
  • Breach of Recognizance (x3)
