With the current Covid-19 situation going on, citizens of Saskatoon are reminded to be cautious of fraudsters who are attempting to take advantage of victims online and through phone scams.

The Saskatoon Police have not seen of these types of scams yet however, other areas of North America and the globe are seeing extremely high numbers of these types of frauds.

Examples of these scams include:

1. Telephone scams requesting payments to help relatives that have fallen ill to Covid-19, or health/hospital officials wanting personal information.

2. Phishing email's from national or global health authorities requesting personal information, payment requests, or attachments or links which contain malware.

The Saskatoon Police Economic Crime Unit want to remind everyone to be cyber vigilant and safe in this time of Covid-19 vulnerability.
