Firearm Discharge

Saskatoon Police are investigating after a firearm was discharged earlier this morning in the downtown area.

At approximately 10:30 a.m., June 1, 2019, Patrol responded to a report that a firearm was discharged in the 300 block of 3rd Avenue South. It was reported that a man exiting a building had collided with a male on a bike, and as a result, the firearm went off. It is believed the firearm was in the cyclist’s backpack at the time.

No one was physically injured, but there was damage to a window of a nearby business.

The male in possession of the firearm fled on the bike prior to Police arrival. He has not yet been located.

Initial investigation indicates the firearm was not discharged intentionally. Police are continuing to investigate and are obtaining video surveillance from the area.
