Police are investigating following an attempted robbery in which bear spray was discharged last night.

At around 11:45 p.m. on March 31, 2026, police received a report of an attempted robbery and bear spraying in the area of Avenue W South and 20th Street West. Through investigation, officers learned that a man had been walking home after purchasing alcohol from a nearby business when he was approached by an unknown man who attempted to rob him by discharging bear spray towards him. The victim then struck the suspect in the face and the suspect fled.

Members of Patrol are continuing to investigate.
