Two people have been arrested and face charges in relation to two separate bear spray incidents.
At approximately 7:15 p.m. on April 13, 2026, officers were called to the 1700 block of 22nd Street West for a report of a man who had discharged bear spray at three people; the man was reported to have fled the scene on a bicycle.
Responding officers located a man matching the suspect description in the 100 block of Avenue Q South where he was arrested without further incident. A search of the man’s backpack resulted in officers locating a can of bear spray.
Officers were not able to locate the victims of the bear spray incident.
As a result, the 31-year-old man has been charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, unauthorized carry of a concealed weapon, and breaching court-imposed conditions.

On April 14, 2026 at approximately 1:30 a.m., police were called to the area of 20th Street West and Avenue H South for a report of a robbery in progress. Initial information indicated a male armed with bear spray assaulted another person and demanded money.
Officers quickly located the victim at Avenue I South and 20th Street West who did not report any physical injuries to police. Officers learned the suspect approached the victim, demanded money, and discharged bear spray towards the victim before a short altercation occurred and the suspect fled the scene.
Other responding officers located a male matching the suspect description and he was arrested without further incident. A further search of the suspect resulted in police locating a can of bear spray.
The 17-year-old male youth has been charged with robbery, unauthorized carry of a concealed weapon, and breaching court-imposed conditions.
