Two people are facing charges after being involved in an altercation with a machete last night.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., May 5, 2026, police responded to the 1900 block of 20th Street West after it was reported that numerous people were involved in a physical altercation and one was armed with a machete.

Upon arrival, officers observed a female in possession of a machete. As the female saw police, she discarded the weapon behind a fence and attempted to flee on foot before being taken into custody a short distance away. As officers were placing the female into the patrol vehicle, they saw a male jump the fence and take possession of the machete by concealing it in his pants.

A 14-year-old female is charged with Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, and breaching court-imposed conditions.

A 26-year-old male is charged with Possession of a Dangerous Weapon and Carrying Concealed Weapon.
